Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor has chosen the state of North Carolina to build its first electric car battery plant in the United States. The plant will be located near Greensboro and is expected to start production in 2025. It involved an investment of nearly $ 1.3 billion, converted into 1. 1.1 billion.
Toyota said the plant was initially expected to produce batteries for 800,000 electric vehicles each year. The governor of North Carolina also confirmed the news about the plant. According to Toyota, the factory will create about 1750 new jobs, which will run entirely on sustainable energy.
The site is part of Toyota’s plans to allocate $ 3.4 billion to battery production in the United States over the next ten years. Worldwide, Japan’s largest carmaker will make $ 13.3 billion by 2030. Many large car companies spend billions to make batteries for electric cars.
U.S. President Joe Biden has said that by 2030, half of all new cars sold in the United States will be free of zero pollution.
