Pillies’ offense is repeated by Jean Sekura and Rice Hoskins with N. Foucault

Rice Hoskins, Jay Bruce and Jean Sekura provided the offense and Spencer Howard won his first major league pitch as the Bills justified themselves by beating Washington Nationals 8-6 at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night.

The win, which came after a defeat to Atlanta on Sunday night, is the sixth-place finish for the Billies in the last seven games.

The Pills are 15-15 with 30 games to play in the sprint season. They are still on track to reach the goal of Price Harper, who has won nine of 10 games. He recorded the need to turn things around for the team following Pills’ defeat in the fifth game in a row in Atlanta on 22 August.

The Billies are 3-0 up against defending world champions Nationals this season.

Washington 12-20.

Howard’s Night

The right-handed player did not show any ill effects from the 11-day layoff. His first four outs are strikes. He went for five innings and gave up five wins and two runs. Howard scored two runs in the fifth inning when he gave up a solo to Tray Turner and a homer to Juan Soto.

Romero shines

Rookie JoJo Romero did a good job of defending the 6-2 lead after Howard left. Romero got four outs, two on strikeouts. He has had 6 strikeouts and a walk in three hitless innings since joining the club. He throws the ball with confidence.

Pills should clear one spot on the list of 28 to add David Phelps on Tuesday. It’s easy to pick Romero to clear that list, but he throws well, and the Pillies will have to consider another solution.

Hunter in a roll

Tommy Hunter had four important outs, including three for the eighth, to defend the lead. Two outs in eighth place came with runners in second and third.

In his last eight appearances, Hunter dropped only one run in the 90th inning. He walked one and scored eight outs in that interval.

This is something flexible.

Hot bats

Harper and J.D. Hoskins and Sekura take some recession as Realmudo cools down a bit.

Hoskins scored a solo homer in the first inning and two runs in seventh. He has played in three straight games and four in the last five games. He has held eight Reserve Banks in his last three games.

Sekura was third with three runs, giving him eight Reserve Banks in the last six games.

Bruce hits second inning with I.L.
