KNLTB Brings Back Tennis Coach Peter Lucassen de Vught from the United States | Regional sports

The KNLTB has appointed Peter Lucassen as Head of High Performance. From August on, Vught’s tennis coach will be responsible, together with Topsport manager Dennis Sporrel, for the high-level sports program and sports culture of Dutch tennis professionals.

This means Lucassen will trade the United States, where he has his own tennis school in Los Angeles, for the Netherlands. “I would like to use my experience on the international circuit and guide young players to the top 100 Dutch tennis players,” Lucassen said of his appointment. “I believe in the current group of players knocking on the door and with this group of players and coaches I want to use everything to take the step towards the top 100.”

Lucassen himself has also been active as a professional tennis player in the past, even reaching 541 place in the world rankings, but ended his career at a relatively young age to graduate from college in the United States and start to train young talents. The Vughtenaar did this not only in their own tennis school, but also for the USTA, the American tennis association.

‘Peter breathes tennis’

“Peter is a fantastic choice for the team, he breathes tennis and doesn’t let go,” says technical director Jacco Eltingh of the KNLTB. “Plus, he can still play tennis well himself. This is what we need now in top tennis. Dennis and Peter are complementary to each other and together they will be the driving force in the years to come to build the ideal sports culture ”.
