Brazilian football legend Marta (37) begins her sixth World Cup: “It will definitely be my last” | Women’s World Cup

Forward Marta is part of Brazil’s squad for next month’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (July 20-August 20). This will be his sixth participation in a world final.

Marta is considered in Brazil as the best football star of all time. Its reputation is also excellent worldwide. She has been named World Soccer Player of the Year six times in the past.

The number ten of the Seleçao, aged 37, is currently under contract with the American Orlando Pride. She only returned to it recently after a serious right knee injury kept her out of action for almost a year.

,,It will definitely be my last World Cup,” said Marta, who is the only record holder for the number of World Cup goals (17). The men’s record holder, Germany’s Miroslav Klose, has sixteen goals.

,,It’s logical that I’m not the same Marta I was twenty years ago, but physically I’m good and mentally even better”, explained the star. Marta must try to guide a young Brazilian team to success After the previous World Cup, in 2019 in France, a rejuvenation was chosen, as no less than eleven of Brazil’s 23 World Cup visitors are celebrating their World Cup debut in this edition.

Brazil open in Group F against France, Jamaica and Panama.
