Tesla begins exporting Model 3 made in China to Europe

Tesla begins exporting Model 3 vehicles made in China to Europe – the automaker initially said it did not plan to do so.

When Tesla began building its Gigafactory in Shanghai, CEO Elon Musk was adamant that it would supply local demand in China and not export to other markets in an effort to reassure the public that the automaker was not shifting production capacity to China.

Optics has been very important since the factory was announced at the height of the trade war between the United States and China.

Reports from China last month indicate that Tesla changed its mind and now planned to export Model 3 vehicles made in China To other markets.

With the changes made to the Model 3 this week, Tesla has pushed the delivery deadline of the Model 3 Standard Range Plus to European markets.

Buyers of the new Model 3 Standard Range Plus in Europe now seem to have an explanation for the long delivery delay as their cars are said to be coming from China.

Here is a bill from a new Tesla Model 3 buyer in France, showing that the Model 3 is made in China (via Green Drive):

In France, the Model 3 Standard Range Plus is listed at 46,600, which includes 8,267 tax.

Tesla recently updated its Model 3 Standard Range Plus in China with Lithium Iron phosphate (LFP) batteries From Chinese battery maker CATL.

It resulted Price drop and limit increase Chinese customers earlier this month.

This is a very important step.

If I were to make some assumptions, it would make more sense to export Tesla Model 3 vehicles from China to Europe until local production at Gigafactory, as Fremont focuses on increasing production of the Model Y and capacity at Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai.

Tesla is certainly not alone in doing this.

Both BMW and Polarstar now sell electric vehicles in China and Europe.

How do you feel about this move? Are you right about getting Tesla vehicles made in China instead of made in California? Even with LFP batteries? Let us know in the comments section below.
