8th death linked to wedding explosion in Maine

The eighth death has been linked to a corona virus outbreak that erupted from a wedding and reception in northern Maine.

The Maine Disease Control and Prevention Center said Saturday that the deceased was in his 80s and belonged to Somerset County.

The death toll from the explosion at the Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Life Center in Madison is now seven, the Maine CDC said Saturday.

Among other developments, the number of corona virus cases at the Rumford paper mill rose to 18, the company said Friday.

The ND Paper Mill said it was testing more than 600 workers.

In March, the company said it had implemented stricter requirements for employees and added a mask order in May, WMTW-TV reported.

The union leader, who represents workers, called on all community members to follow ethics to control the spread of the virus.

“You are killing us. You fire me and everyone else. People are dying, not just at the plant, but in the community, ”said Gary Hemingway. “It’s not fun. You don’t want to wear a mask. You ‘re stupid, but you hurt us.”
