Noa-Lynn van Leuven is on the side board for the Women’s World Matchplay. On the YouTube channel of 433 Darts the darts star is interviewed at length. He not only talks about her participation, but also about her life as a transgender woman. It hasn’t always been easy, especially in the world of darts.

These days, she’s still bothered by darts colleagues who “don’t think it’s fair” for her to participate as a transgender woman. Especially when Van Leuven achieves good results, there are still people who prefer not to see her in big tournaments. She doesn’t want to name names. Luckily, there are also plenty of women supporting her, inside and outside of the competition. Van Leuven, for example, has a lot of contact with Victoria Monaghan, a transgender woman who plays darts in New Zealand.

Difficult youth
His identity also caused problems in his youth. In her own words, she had to β€œchoose between living or not”. Fortunately, at the start of her darts career, she had a lot of support, also from great male darts players. Vincent van der Voort is mentioned as one of the most important figures in his breakthrough: “He’s actually the first person to ask the PDC, ‘Can Noa-Lynn participate?'”
