Zinedine Zidane says he has no doubt that Sergio Ramos will sign a new contract after scoring his 100th goal Real Madrid The goal.
The Spaniard scored a century for Los Blancos during Tuesday’s 3-2 Champions League victory over Inter Milan.
Ramos has been under contract for less than a year and will be available for free transfer next summer.
But Zidane, who picked up his first European win of the season, believes the 34-year-old Bernabeu is unlikely to leave.
“As always, he is our captain, our captain,” the Real Madrid boss said following the game.
“We always want him here. It shows what he does, what he always wants. He will stay, and I have no doubt that it will continue to make history.”
Ramos reached the milestone during the first half scene as Real advanced 2-0 ahead of their Group B rivals.
After their opening pair took a point from the games, there was pressure on Zidane’s men to make a positive decision.
The goals of Karim Benzema and Ramos are to keep the hosts in a commanding position, only to surrender the lead after the strikes of Loto Martinez and Ivan Perisic.
With ten minutes remaining, however, Rodrigo caught the winner to set foot for the La Liga champions in this year’s tournament.
After the victory at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium at Real’s temporary home and training ground, Ramos said the result was more important than his personal record.
“Personal posts are secondary, but you want to attack them, as long as they help with page success, I can get some more.
Ramos added: “It was a tough game, but in the end we managed to get a good result and three very important points.
“We know this is a do-or-die game. When you come back to a draw in a match you win, you have to push. We’ll leave them a little bit, you can not do that in the Champions League.”
