Amanda Gorman probably wasn’t expecting it. But so that she can one day stand there to address the country as president, she doesn’t say no to that.
“We weren’t ready to be the heirs of this terrible time, but we found in ourselves the strength to write a new chapter of hope and joy,” reads Gorman’s poem. “We are the heirs to a land and a time when a skinny black girl, descended from slaves and raised by a single mother, can dream of becoming president and recite a poem to a president.”
With these words, she not only encouraged the guests, but also the whole country. The activist has received widespread praise on social media for her performance. Also from TV star Oprah Winfrey. She said she “had never been prouder” of a young woman.

Amanda studied sociology at Harvard College and was named the National Youth Poet in 2017. Her wisdom and knowledge is reflected in her work. She writes extensively on issues such as oppression, feminism and racial inequality. She manages to convey the sensitive note that characterizes racial inequality in the United States in words in the book The hill we are climbing. Amanda Gorman future president of the United States?
In her poem, Amanda Gorman discussed the possibility of running for president of the United States. It was very close to Hillary Clinton. She writes on Twitter that she can’t wait for this to happen.
Gorman was invited to perform at First Lady Jill Biden’s inauguration when she heard about her lecture at the Library of Congress. And Amanda, 22, couldn’t say no to the offer. In an interview with LA Times says the poet that in 2036, she herself will make an offer for the presidency. Kamala Harris was a big inspiration in Gorman’s decision. She is the first black woman vice president of the United States. “When young women see it, young women can be,” Amanda said cheerfully.
