Welcome to Omslag in 2021!

EINDHOVEN, January 1, 2021 – Omslag is silent, but behind-the-scenes changes are underway. Due to the lockdown, we still can’t get together with multiple people, but it leaves room for innovation. The changes also have to do with the unexpected departure of Omslag employee Dick Verheul from the start. There will also be major policy changes.

What will continue unabated is to work towards the goal that Omslag has been pursuing since 1994: “To unite people around the themes of the environment, peace, work, culture, economy. and solidarity. Omslag works on a sustainable and colorful society with meetings, campaigns, activities and publications. And of course: large and national networks to connect people and initiatives that are committed to a better world for all.

During the month of January, a partially renewed Omslag team will pick up the thread and we will discuss together which activities will continue and which will stop. There are also plans for new activities. More on that later.

Bringing the thinkers together

The large workspace will be arranged differently; there will be more space to be able to meet with a few people at a suitable distance, also for small-scale film screenings. More space is also created in the kitchen and the library. And there is now a guesthouse for the employees and visitors who live a little further away. Come see it all – just make an appointment in advance!

Now that ZOZ is gone, other initiatives will be launched to share inspiration and bring do-thinkers together. During the lockdown, the Omslag website (www.omslag.nl) and the Facebook page will be mainly used for this purpose (https://www.facebook.com/omslag). And regularly consult the action program: www.aktieagenda.nl

National service point living differently

The Landelijk Servicepunt Anders Wonen Anders Leven, housed in the Omslag library, will be open more widely in the future – for the time being (due to the crown) only on Friday afternoons by prior appointment. The e-newsletter, which is sent almost every month to over 4,700 subscribers, also continues to appear. In addition, the theme of “living differently” will also receive active attention in other ways in the coming period; This includes small-scale exchanges, workshops and project presentations. A lot of information is also available on the website www.omslag.nl

Library and shop

The Omslag library will remain open on Friday afternoon for the time being: a maximum of two visitors at the same time. Lending of publications and DVDs is possible to a limited extent. Take a look at the database: www.omslag.nl

In the Omslag store, we continue to offer products that you hardly come across elsewhere, such as peace flags, books, brochures, posters, DVDs, stickers, postcards, etc. You can now order products by phone or email, but you can also visit Eindhoven. . Find the offer: www.omslag.nl

Cover: meeting place

We hope to be able to organize meetings with small groups again at the end of January: Fire & Soup, eat together, films with after-talk, … And as soon as the weather improves, we will also resume the garden – and the activities – in the garden. Until then, there are also all kinds of small and large maintenance jobs to be done.

Room for new employees

In the new configuration of Omslag, there is also more room for new employees, incidentally or permanently. There is currently a great need for someone (s) with computer skills. See: www.omslag.nl
