WEESP Michaja van Capel from Weesp will play his first international match today for the Dutch rugby team. The match against Spanke is part of the European Championships.
If the Dutch team wins, they are getting closer to the World Cup in New Zealand which takes place at the end of the summer. Michaja can’t wait to be there: “But I’m also very nervous. Spain is very good. I find it a shame that I cannot bring my whole family and the Delft rugby team.
The match is in Spain. In preparation for the competition, Michaja has been living in social isolation for two weeks. “It is made up of three bubbles: work or study, home and the Dutch team. In addition, I am not allowed to see anyone, so I cannot go to the supermarket or other public places, ”she explains. “In addition, we are tested before each training, which is not fun. You don’t get used to it.
Michaja is originally from Weesp but now lives in Delft for her studies. There she also plays in the varsity rugby team. She plays rugby, the most popular form of sport in Europe. A team is made up of 15 players.
Today’s match is at 4:00 p.m. and is over to follow via the Rugby Europe website.
