US intelligence services: Putin interfered in elections

Putin has reportedly personally endorsed Russian attempts to cast a bad light on eventual winner Joe Biden, the report says. The Russians would rather see Trump in the White House because it was thought that Biden’s policies would work less in their favor.

Unfavorable for Biden

In various ways, Russia would have wanted to create scenarios unfavorable to Biden, for example on the alleged corruption in Ukraine. Secret agents allegedly infiltrated the American media and used Trump’s confidants for their cart.

According to US media, it is likely to refer, among other things, to Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer and former mayor of New York. Giuliani had several contacts with a Ukrainian policymaker who claimed to have incriminating information about Biden and, according to the report, was operating under the auspices of the Russians and Putin.

Voting process intact

According to intelligence services, the actual voting process was not affected. Thus, voter registration and voting took place without interference.

The Russians are said to have interfered less in the recent elections than in previous ones, such as the 2016 presidential elections, where there was also talk of Russian interference. The report also shows that Iran intervened in the elections as well, mainly by questioning its reliability. China was considering interference, but reportedly decided on it in the end.
