United States withdraws all armed forces from Iraq | Abroad

As the reason for the withdrawal, countries cite the “increased capacity” of Iraqi security forces. Later, it is agreed that troops from the United States and other countries that have contributed to the fight against ISIS will leave Iraq. American soldiers will always be active in Iraq to assist the military with advice and training in the fight against ISIS.

The transition of US and international forces from combat operations to training, equipping and assisting the Iraqi army “reflects the success” of strategic cooperation, according to a joint US-Iraqi statement. “It guarantees support for the ongoing efforts of the Iraqi armed forces to ensure that ISIS can never again threaten the stability of Iraq.”

The two countries have had their first “strategic dialogue” since Joe Biden became US president. According to the two countries, the Iraqi army has improved considerably. Like his predecessor Donald Trump, Biden is also looking for ways to end what have been called “endless wars”. Under Trump, the number of American troops in Iraq fell to 2,500 earlier this year.

Wednesday’s decision comes as US forces are bombarded with missiles from Shiite paramilitary groups linked to Iran almost daily. Iraq is committed to protecting the bases.
