Twelve new infections in Terneuzen in one day

New infections were counted between Sunday 10:00 a.m. and Monday 10:00 a.m. Five infections were identified in the municipalities of Middelburg and Hulst, three in Schouwen-Duiveland, two in Borsele, Noord-Beveland, Sluis, Tholen and Vlissingen each, Goes and Reimerswaal one each. With 37 new reports, Zeeland is again well above the signal value of 27 infections per day.

Rolling week

The number of infections fluctuates greatly per day. To see an increase or decrease, it is best to look at the weekly totals. The graph below shows the total of the previous seven days per day. This is called a “moving week”.

By looking at this progressive week, instead of just the daily numbers, you avoid going blind to daily fluctuations. It is striking that in recent days, especially in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, the number of infections has increased, followed by Bevelanden and Walcheren. It is only in the north of the province, therefore in the municipalities of Tholen and Schouwen-Duiveland, that there has not been a clear upward trend in recent days.

Signal value

This upward trend is clearly visible in the national contamination figures since the beginning of September. In the past 24 hours, 4,579 new infections have been reported across the country. The day before, there were 4,007. This means that nationally, we are now almost four times the value of the signal adhered to by the Ministry of Health, security regions and GGDs.

These organizations are using seven new infections per 100,000 population as their signal value and nationally there are now 26.3 infections per 100,000 population as of yesterday. All safe regions are above this signal value today. In Zeeland we now have the 37 new reports at 9.4 infections per 100,000 population.
