Toyota sells more than 9 million cars
Toyota sold 9,087,303 new cars in the last fiscal year, down four percent from a year earlier. The company sold 7.5 million cars outside of Japan. The Toyota Group comes in at 9,919,759 vehicles, down five percent. For comparison: In the 2020 calendar year, the Volkswagen Group sold a total of 9,305,400 vehicles.

In the first quarter of this year, Toyota’s global sales increased by more than 19 percent to 2,460,124 cars. Outside Japan, Toyota sold 22 percent more vehicles. The increase was mainly due to Toyota’s better performance in China and the United States in March, which was able to increase global sales by 44 percent.
Nine percent
The Japanese group also reported that from April 2020 to the end of March this year, 9,474,638 vehicles rolled out of the assembly line at all its factories, a decrease of almost nine percent. According to the Toyota brand, the decline in actual production was four percent.
