Madison, Wis. – Wisconsin Cornerback Caesar Williams Pass interruption calls and penalties heard during last weekend’s loss said the badgers would not play aggressively for the rest of the season.
The Badgers were called up to intercept the pass four times on Saturday in a 17-7 win over Northwest. Two penalties came in the opening run of the game, which ended with Wild Gates Touch Down.
“Sometimes I felt like I had purple under their jersey; that is, under their white and black shirts,” Williams said Tuesday.
Northwest rose 19 to 11 in the Associated Press Top 25 after the win, while Wisconsin (2-1) fell 10 to 18. Northwestern (4-1) accepted the command of the Big Ten West Division racing, while the Badgers gave a chance to reach the conference championship game for the second time.
Williams canceled an interception when he was called for a pass interception in the second quarter. Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhardt said he did not train for the second round due to fines and that “he did not see them as pass interruption calls, no security”.
“Refs are not used to seeing the right representatives, they just throw a flag,” Williams said with a laugh. “It’s hard work, but I don’t think a flag should block the confidence of the defensive back in the actions they do.”
Wisconsin is scheduled to host Minnesota (2-3) on Friday, although Golden Cobers is dealing with epidemic-related issues. Minnesota stopped practice Tuesday and will hold almost all meetings as a result of hypothetical COVID-19 positive tests.
