Activist Siebrano Pique (file photo) was arrested in Suriname last night. Various Surinamese media claim he violated lockdown rules. He was reportedly transferred to the Police Academy, where he had to spend the night.
Pique is known as an opponent of the lockout in Suriname. Yesterday he again expressed his dissatisfaction with the measures taken in Suriname. He said about it “We must fight for our freedom. Lockdown does not bear fruit, lockdown destroys the economy, our lifestyle and our freedom. We will fight for our freedom. Enough is enough!“
This weekend, there is again talk of a total lockout which began on Friday evening and lasts until 5:00 am on Monday.
UPDATE: According to Siebrano, he would have a letter of consent that would allow him to go out on the streets during the lockdown. He just posted this letter online:
“Infuriatingly humble social media ninja. Devoted travel junkie. Student. Avid internet lover.”
