Dutch producer DJ San Holo is releasing the double single “black and white” and “MY FAULT” from the upcoming album “bb u ok?” Today. His second album will be released on May 21 on his own bitbird label and Counter Records and features guest appearances by rock band American Football & Rivers Cuomo (Weezer).

Today San Holo is releasing the double single, ‘black and white’ and ‘MY FAULT’ – the latest singles to be released from their highly anticipated new album ‘bb u ok?’ (May 21st). Both songs represent a very emotional and personal chapter for Sander in which we see him reflect on the intricacies of a previous relationship, culminating in his most sensitive and thoughtful music to date.

Commenting on what the two songs mean to him, Sander says, “’MY FAULT’ is probably the most personal song I have ever written. It’s a song about a chapter in my life, a relationship with the highs and the lows. Being on the road a lot and with music was my number one goal. I was always skeptical about getting into a relationship and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to fully give myself to someone. I can’t commit and don’t fall in love easily until it happened to me recently.

This relationship was dominated by intense emotions and brought back memories that transformed me into the person I am today. It was very real, unlike a lot of things in this world, and it was intense in the best and worst ways. I think it happens sometimes when you allow yourself to love deeply.

When the relationship broke, for a long time I felt guilty that I couldn’t make it work, but over time and my perspective changed I started to see that things weren’t so black and white. In my mind, I had unconsciously blamed myself for a long time … but was it really my fault?

Writing these songs really helped me get back on track. The first few days I was in Los Angeles writing this album, I really struggled to find something that made me feel good musically. MY FAULT was finally the first song I did for bb u ok? wrote and was really passionate. In many ways, that was the starting point for the album.

The new album contains no less than 20 songs. You see San once again taking his own path and entering the alternative indie world with the use of analog instruments and collaborations with rock band American Football and Rivers Cuomo (Weezer). The recently released single ‘IT HURTS’ has already received many positive reviews from international blogs such as Dancing Astronaut, This Song Is Sick and Billboard who have described San Holo as ‘the king of emotional bangers’. The single, which reached # 41 on the Billboard Hot Dance / Electronic Songs chart, is an ode to staying upbeat and positive in these troubled times, a theme that runs through the album.

Album ‘bb u ok?’ is the sequel to Sander’s previous album ‘album1’, which received international acclaim. This earned San the International Dance Music Award for Revolutionary Artist of the Year and the Edison Pop Award for Best Dance Album in the Netherlands. Her 2019 album1 world tour featured 75 shows and sold over 100,000 tickets across North America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand, and Australia, including performances at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, New York’s Terminal 5, and at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. In 2020, San did several streaming gigs, most notably for the Porter Robinsons Secret Sky Festival. This summer he will perform at the North Coast and Life Is Beautiful festival.

“Bb u ok” will be released May 21 on bitbird and Counter Records – the singles “black and white” and “MY FAULT” were released today.
