Ratchet & Clank for PS4 will be free next month

Sony brings its Play At Home Initiative back and offers a selection of free games and entertainment from March through June.

First of all, Ratchet & Clank (2016) will be free in March for all owners of PlayStation 4 and 5, including players who do not have a PlayStation Plus subscription. Sony says that once you claim the game, you can play it with no time limit.

Starting March 25, anime streaming services Funimation and Wakanim will offer expanded access to new subscribers in supported countries. For Funimation, the offer is available in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Wakanim’s offer is available in most Western and Northern European countries.

These are currently the only offers Sony has announced for the second round of the Play At Home initiative. Last April, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey were available for free for a limited time.

The Ratchet & Clank PS4 reboot was done for free just three months before the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart release date on June 11. Developer Insomniac Games says the exclusive PS5 sequel is a great place to start if you’ve never played a Ratchet & Clank game, but has deeper ties to previous games.

The developers say Rift Apart “shows what’s possible for games designed for PS5’s super-fast SSD and DualSense wireless controller.”

If you don’t have enough of Ratchet & Clank yet, they are also working on a new animated short Ratchet and Clank. This one has no connection with Rift Apart.
