Police say driver pulled a Detroit officer’s car against a wall on an I-75 and opened fire

Detroit – A duty Detroit Police Officer Injured During a shooting with a pickup truck driver Authorities say he crashed into his vehicle several times on the I-75.

The officer was heading south on I-75 near Springwells Street Southwest Detroit When she was stopped behind by a black Ford F150 at midnight on Thursday, police said.

As she tried to drive away, a pickup truck followed her and collided with her vehicle, following her against a construction barrier wall, authorities said.

Police said the 34-year-old man who drove the pickup truck was known to the officer. Authorities say he got out of the pickup truck and began firing at the officer.

During the shooting, both the officer and the 34-year-old man were shot, police said.

Authorities said the officer sustained a grazing wound on his body before fleeing to the 7900 block of Olivet Street and seeking help. He was taken to a nearby hospital by medical officials and was listed as stable.

A 34-year-old man was also shot and killed, police said. He was taken into custody and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.
