Police arrest potential shooter in case of shot dead Brazilian Tourtonnelaan

Suriname police have arrested the 21-year-old AV as a suspect in the shooting, in which an unknown Brazilian was shot dead on the Tourtonnelaan last night.

It would be the shooter. CCTV footage shows he shot the victim at least five times from a considerable distance.

The shooting followed after a collision. We learn that the Brazilian had fled the scene and then arrived threatening with a shotgun after which the suspect, who was not involved in the collision, shot him several times.

The vehicle in which the shooter left the scene (pictured) was captured, after which the driver of the SK car (25) was apprehended by men from the Central Regional Assistance Team (RBTM). Shortly after, AV was arrested in a hotel in northern Paramaribo and handed over to colleagues from Kapitale Delicten.

The man’s lifeless body was seized by police for an autopsy on behalf of the prosecution. Capital Offenses is investigating the case further.
