Bill Belich may have had success with the Jets with the Patriots. Probably not. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
“I resign from the NYJ’s iCourt post,” he wrote in a paper.
It was one of the worst days of Jets’ history, and Belichick fondly recalled it.
“It’s one of the most defining, but one The best moments of my career, ”Belichick said via ESPN, in his weekly interview on Sports Radio WEEI on Tuesday. “It simply came to our notice then [Kraft] I could not have asked for anything other than this because it gave me the opportunity to come here. ”
Belichick has won six Super Bowls as head coach of the Patriots since trading with the Jets 21 seasons ago. The Jets have had six head coaches, a division title and six post-seasonal appearances since Belich’s resignation.
“This is not a good situation for me, I don’t want to be a part of it, so I don’t,” Belichick said. “The other half Robert gave me the opportunity to come here [to New England]. Business, he left a little to come here. That’s a big deal. I am so grateful that it worked.
“I appreciate all the support of Robert, the Kraft family, the Patriots organization and all the New England fans. I will continue to do my best for this team and this organization. I am so grateful for the opportunity to come here and I will not be there in that situation.”
The rest is, of course, history.
