A man in Pennsylvania was forced to beg on Facebook for help finding his mother’s ICU bed, and when he struggled with Covit-19, his health deteriorated and doctors said he needed to be evacuated urgently.
Shawn Ryder posted on Facebook on Tuesday that he was heartbroken to be looking for a hospital with an open ICU bed and an ECMO machine so his mother Karen could be transferred for treatment.
Karen has been on a ventilator since November 23 and was admitted to the hospital a few days ago and placed on oxygen.
Shawn’s position was successful and a doctor from a nearby York hospital called him, who was able to facilitate the transfer the next day.
Her mother is still in critical condition, but Ryder was able to talk to her via zoom because the family continued to thank the doctors for their prompt work and they hope their story inspires other families to take precautionary measures.

She explained on her Tuesday that the hospital no longer had the skills to treat her
‘Is there anyone in contact with Covid ICU at York Hospital, Hershey Hospital, Ben State, Temple or Maryland Hospitals?’ Shawn wrote in his opening post on Monday.
‘My mother is not functioning properly and is at the maximum of the capabilities of Hanover hospitals. We are looking for a hospital with ECMO machine and bed so Hanover can transfer her to you.
‘Sorry to be blunt, but the quickest way to post news is FB. Hanover makes hospital calls, but I can not progress without giving my best view.
‘Mom … please keep fighting. We love you so much and are not ready to lose you, ‘he added.
In a separate post, Shawn said he had made his request after talking to his mom’s doctor and was told he needed to be relocated, but they could not promise to get a bed.
He then spoke to his father, who listened to his wife’s condition and became emotional and said, ‘She must fight.’
On Tuesday, Karen was transferred to York, where she was again placed on a ventilator. He has now spent 13 days on the ventilator as of Saturday.
Shawn’s post was seen by a nurse in York, who sent the information to a doctor.
Before she left, Karen was able to meet up with her husband, who was wearing a full PPE.
He praised Shane for the work of the hospital staff: ‘I don’t know how these people did this for 9 months. I got wet when I left. ‘
Shawn said a doctor in York told them he ‘didn’t want to create misconceptions’ because Karen had not yet shown any improvement despite the transfer.
‘She’s in a marathon now, which won’t change overnight. This is unpredictable for those who have not talked to doctors about COVID-19, ”he wrote.
‘People are coming in better than crashing … hard. They do not know which patients will become better or worse. So, I do not want to create this post, and someone thinks that mom is on the right side of the tracks. She does not. ‘

Karen was originally in Hanover Hospital, but needed an EMCO machine
Karen was able to talk to her family, however, by posting a photo of Shawn’s zoom chat, saying that more people want to see it because ‘this is Govt-19’.
Shawn has documented the entire battle with his mother’s COVID-19 with his family for his fame for constantly colliding with his cowboy in the Southwest football games.

He also shared screen shots of his text conversation with him on November 19, in which he said he was going to the hospital because he had no energy.
Shawn said he shared them to ‘show how quickly bad things can change with Covit-19’.
He added in a post on Friday that although the family did not speak to the media about ‘other families who are grieving, those involved in overwork, fatigue and stress doctors, nurses and support staff’, they ‘make an impact on our mother’s story’.
‘Our family is suffering. Our family struggles like everyone else. Yes, we want people to listen to our story and take more precautionary measures so they do not end up where we are, which is why we post about mom, but we do not particularly want the attention of our family, ” he said.
‘We took her to Facebook to be proactive in the fight to save our mother. We want to emphasize this … active for our family, active for your family, active in saving others … active as individuals, active as family units, communities and states and nations, yes, the world. ‘

The continuing increase in corona virus cases in the United States is putting pressure not only on Pennsylvania but also on medical centers.
Ryder’s online appeal came as hospitals across the country struggled with severe bed shortages and were forced to restrict the number of people with COVID-19 they could admit to making beds available to sick patients.
As of Friday, 101,276 people had been hospitalized from the virus, and new data showed that the percentage of hospital admissions was declining after a positive test.
Data from Atlantic Analysis reveals that COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized throughout November more than in previous months because the number of new daily cases has risen, and health systems are increasing to that extent.
If the continued rise in cases exacerbates the bed shortage, it could lead to the deaths of saved Americans if treated immediately, causing even more concern for medical staff.
This week has already marked 2,595 deaths in U.S. Friday, the deadliest week of epidemics since mid-April.
As of Saturday morning, 279,966 Americans had died from the corona virus and 14.4 million cases had been confirmed since the outbreak began.
In Pennsylvania, there has been an increase of 411,484 cases of new daily infections in recent days.
On Thursday, 12,884 new cases were registered in the state.
Prior to this, there were 8,355 new daily cases on November 25. With the first waves of the epidemic, the highest number ever reached was 2,058.
There are 5,230 people hospitalized in the state with COVID-19, of whom 1,065 patients are in the intensive care unit.
The Corona virus has killed 11,262 people in Pennsylvania, with 149 new victims reported Friday.
