When you hear the name Nokia, you probably think back to the days of the 3310. It’s no surprise, because after that it was overtaken by all sorts of brands.
This caused Finnish phones to fall into a deep valley. Whereas before almost everyone owned a Nokia, now it is extremely difficult to find someone in your group of friends who owns such a device.
Nokia continues with the G22
Where many companies are giving up (LG, HTC, Ericsson), Nokia continues to make phones on a regular basis. Admittedly, under the wing of other companies, it really didn’t yield much. The Nokia G22 can change that.
Well, the G22 isn’t a phone with specs that give the Pixel, iPhone, or Galaxy S line a hard time. There’s something unique about it, though. Something as far as I’m concerned, all expensive phones should have. I’m talking about the possibility of repairing your phone yourself.
At the time, when my iPhone 4S needed a new battery, I replaced it myself. It wasn’t difficult as all you had to do was unscrew the phone, remove the back, and replace the battery.
The problem with today’s smartphones
It’s not that simple anymore. Indeed, you must first assemble all kinds of parts before you can finally reach them. It’s so hard that I can’t even start it myself. Fortunately, the Nokia G22 offers a solution.
With the Nokia G22, you can repair your phone yourself again. iFixit has created special tools and manuals for this device so you can replace whatever you want. Do you want to install a new battery or a new screen? This is easily done.
Thanks to Nokia, I had the chance to screw the device on myself, and it was surprisingly easy. You have to be careful that some parts are plastic and you have to make sure they don’t break. It would be a waste.
The Nokia G22 is the solution
The Nokia G22 mainly focuses on the repairability of the battery, back, screen and USB port. However, for me, this is just the beginning. Would it be nice if you could replace important parts yourself, like a processor or a camera? Instead of repairing, you can actually upgrade your phone.
This is where the Nokia G22 really excels, and I secretly hope this product will be a success. Because while the specs might not be impressive, it would be good for the wallet and the environment if more brands followed suit.
The Nokia G22 is therefore a good starting point, but it is a relatively cheap phone. It will be interesting to see if the Finns will also do this for their more expensive models, like the X30. Then other brands may follow.
Will the Apple iPhone 15 become a rainbow with this new color?
