CDA MPs, including Pieter Omtzigt, questioned Economic Affairs and Finance Ministers Wiebes and Hoekstra on De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) cooperation with Centric. They wonder if the government can continue to do business with the boss of Centric Sanderink after a number of faults and not comply with court orders.
On the top of the table
Omtzigt wants to have the letters Sanderink sent to a number of senior government officials on the table so that the police and prosecution can also inspect them. He also wished to know if the ministers considered it appropriate for the bank and the government to continue to do business in the field of ICT with someone who threatens the authorities and does not comply with court decisions.
Intervene
The MP is also curious to what extent the Dutch government depends on Centric and whether DNB can continue to work with software if the collaboration ends. Omtzigt also questions whether Centric’s “one-level board” has the power to step in if a director is clearly breaking the law.
Lost land
Due to the issues surrounding Gerard Sanderink, Centric has been a headwind for some time. The company lost important customers and saw the satisfaction of existing customers decline further. The company has also lost ground among municipalities. The confidence previously expressed by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) in IT service provider Centric holds for now, but the relationship with AG Connect was also nuanced last year. The bank now calls cybersecurity and information security “out of the picture” in the IT services it uses. “DNB will continue to follow developments around Centric closely and take action as necessary.”
