We already knew that Heeren Loo was looking for a location in South Beveland. With a branch along the A58 near the new exit 35A, a central and easily accessible location has been found.
On the site, opposite the crematorium, there is still a small orchard. It is not yet completely certain that the plans will go ahead, but the Municipality of Goes is in any case positive. Another engagement project is being launched to see if local residents can live with the plans.
Heeren Loo is already active in Goes, but the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired, says Zeeland spokesperson for the care provider Marloes Lelieveld. “We already have several houses in Goes for people with intellectual disabilities, but they are not satisfactory. Bathrooms are often poor, or someone with walking difficulties lives in a house with stairs.
Around 70 people with intellectual disabilities will live in Nansenbaan, but the new residential and care center is not intended to reach out on a large scale.
Marloes Lelieveld: “They will be separate group homes with between four and eight clients. They share a common living space, but the people each have a separate bathroom. Lelieveld points out that Heeren Loo is talking about a residential park, because there is a lot of greenery between the residential units.
The new location in Goes will likely house ‘s Heeren Loo’s medical service for the whole of Midden-Zeeland. With the Adrz nearby and the planned care boulevard along the ‘s-Gravenpolderseweg, this is a logical choice. If all goes according to plan, construction will begin next year.
Heeren Loo is building four new residential sites:
1. Middelburg – Rittenburg
This year, work continues for a new residential complex on the site of the old Arduin. The first residents will move to the new complex in 2022. The new building involves an investment of fifteen million euros. In total, Heeren Loo will invest eighty million euros in new construction projects in the coming years. There will be 64 residents at this complex.
2. Vlissingen – Nieuwe Zuidbeekseweg
Heeren Loo and the municipality of Vlissingen discuss new constructions on the Nieuwe Zuidbeekseweg. We are trying to find out if this is an appropriate place where clients can live in connection with the neighborhood and which is easily accessible for the family. Maximum 96 residents.
3. Goes – Nansenbaan
This new location was therefore announced today. A residential park on the corner of Nansenbaan and ‘s-Gravenpoldersweg.
4. Fourth location?
A fourth location is still being sought. We do not yet know where this will come from.
