New ‘Evil Dead’ movie is making progress again

evil DeadVeteran Bruce Campbell was recently interviewed by Knox News and, during that conversation, revealed some new details about the franchise’s latest installment: Evil Dead Rise. Campbell will not return as Ash, but is involved in the film as a producer.

Campbell said the following about the status of the new film:

“The filming of the next Evil Dead film is scheduled to begin in New Zealand later this year. It is set in the modern age and no longer in the woods, but in an urban setting.”

New decor, new story
The actor, who played Ash Williams in three films and one series, recently announced that the title character, just like in the 2013 reboot, will be female. Campbell said:

“This is a brand new Evil Dead story, where the Necronomicon ends with new characters. The thing that makes Evil Dead so entertaining is that it is about ordinary people facing an evil that seems unstoppable. The horror in these movies. The main character is not someone with skills. This time we have a woman as the main character who must save her family. ”

We can Evil Dead Rise, from director Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground), is due in 2022.
