NATO leader warns Russia: Stop building troops on Ukraine border

Russia must immediately stop building troops on the Ukrainian border and withdraw from eastern Ukraine. NATO President Stoltenberg made the request after a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Koleba. The NATO leader talks about the largest Russian military presence on the border since the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

As for Ukraine, the Kremlin is trying to escalate the conflict in eastern Ukraine, including intimidation by building troops on the border and the use of propaganda by Russian channels in the country. Coleba calls on the West to impose further sanctions on Russia and provide military assistance.

The country wants to join NATO, but according to the United States, that country is not yet ready for it, because Kiev must first implement several important reforms. Regional stability is generally a prerequisite for membership in a military alliance.

According to NATO leader Stoltenberg, Russia is trying to provoke conflict in eastern Ukraine and disrupt the access process. “Thirty NATO member states will decide on Ukraine’s access, and no one else,” Norwegian sources said. Reuters reports that the situation in Ukraine will be discussed at a digital NATO conference tomorrow, based on diplomatic sources.

US presence in Europe

Earlier today, Moscow urged the United States to stay out of the region because Ukraine’s military presence could turn Ukraine into a dangerous ‘powder keg’. This time the Americans are with some warships in the Black Sea.

Also, during a visit to Germany this morning, US Secretary of Defense Austin announced that he was ending the withdrawal of US troops from Germany, which had begun under former President Trump. The Pentagon will transfer another 500 troops to the base in Germany.
