Motorist smashes into Tel Aviv pedestrians, several injured | Abroad

A motorist rammed pedestrians in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. At least seven people were injured, three of them seriously, according to Israeli police. Israeli media report that the driver was shot dead.

The car drove according to the log Ha’aretz on a sidewalk. According to initial information, the driver also went out to stab people. He was reportedly shot dead by an armed civilian.

Palestinian movement Hamas calls car driver’s actions ‘heroic’, writes Ha’aretz. According to a spokesperson, it is a “first response to Israeli crimes against our people in the Jenin refugee camp” in the West Bank. Israel is carrying out a major military operation there.

The alleged perpetrator, according to police, is a young Palestinian who lived in the Hebron area, reports The Jerusalem Post. The 20-somethings were reportedly allowed to travel to Israel for treatment. According to the police, the man appears to have acted alone.
