Morocco approaches US-Israel Public Affairs Commission (AIPAC), one of the most powerful Israeli lobby groups in the United States. With this, the Kingdom hopes to have a positive influence on the possible decision of the Biden government to change the recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. Therefore, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Borita will attend the conference organized by AIPAC on May 6.
This is the first time Morocco has participated in the activities of the Israeli lobby group. Purita will be the chief guest at the conference, which will be attended via video link.
Since accepting the administration of the new US President Joe Biden, Morocco has been making efforts to assure Washington that its precedent for the Sahara remains unchanged. So far, Biden has not issued any statement on Donald Trump’s Sahara mandate. With the exception of Morocco, AIPAC is very concerned about the revocation of the order.
According to the website Jewish Insider Israel fears that Morocco will stop normalizing relations between the two countries if President Biden decides to recognize Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara.
