Kayden Milne, Darren Herewini and Jonny Tata secured their participation in the New Zealand Darts Masters last weekend as an extension of the DPNZ Tour.
Hamilton’s GLOBOX Arena will host the World Series tournament in New Zealand on August 4-5, pitting eight of the world’s top darts players against eight local darts players.
Two qualifying tournaments were played last weekend. Herewini at the 2017 Auckland Darts Masters, beat Milne 7-5 with a 130 finish in round 12 of the first qualifying event final.
The second qualifying tournament fell prey to Jonny Tata, who will make his television debut at the New Zealand Darts Masters. He treated, among others, former World Cup participant Bernie Smith en route to the final. He was 7-4 too strong for Jonty Reede.
Milne, 23, also secured his place on the pitch as the highest – but unqualified – player in the DPA rankings. This is a ranking of darts players in Australia. Damon Heta, Simon Whitlock, Ben Robb and Haupai Puha also participate on behalf of Oceanian representation.
Another name is added. This starting ticket is awarded to the highest ranked player on the DPA Order of Merit following the upcoming tournament weekend of July 8-9.
