Many ministers will be abroad next week. This is a work visit starting April 19th. Ministers Albert Ramdin (Foreign Affairs, International Trade and International Cooperation), Armond Achievers (Finance and Planning) and David Abiamofo (Natural Resources).
Annand Jakeser (Executive Director Statsoli) and Karel Ekhorst are also part of the delegation.
The delegation will hold talks with the US Congress, the United States Department of State and the US Treasury Department.
There are also discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the International Development Bank (IDP), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAO).
In addition, the government delegation will provide presentations on the potential for future investment in Suriname.
After this round, the delegates will leave for Houston, Texas, where they will discuss with oil companies and investors the necessary arrangements for the first oil reserves to be cleared from the ground. An important point to note is that CDS said in a press release that Suriname is slightly behind in planning in relation to the coast and local content.
The delegation will continue on its way to Miami, where it will hold talks with international gold company Newmont and other foreign investors.
This Surinamese investor roadshow will bring delegates back to Suriname on May 1st. According to the CDS, the May 1 return date is set based on available flights.
Minister Ramdin is in consultation with President San Santoki during his visit to the Roadshow from April 10-19 for private duties affecting his family abroad. During this visit, he will hold several official meetings for the benefit of the state. This includes bilateral talks and various virtual meetings. For example, on his way to Guyana, the Minister will meet with his colleague Guyana’s Foreign Minister. The meeting recorded bilateral cooperation and other burning issues, the press release said.
