We moderate comments. Our goal is to provide a substantial commentary for a general readership. By screening submissions, we provide readers with space to share intelligent and informative commentary that improves the quality of our news and information.
If most comments are in the title and will be published as incorrect, moderate results are subjective. We will create them as carefully and smoothly as we can. Due to the size of the reader comments, we are not able to review individual moderate results with readers.
We value thoughtful ideas that represent different perspectives that express their opinion quickly and politely. We try to protect discussions from repeated comments by the same reader or by different readers
We follow the same standards for taste as the daily newspaper. Some things we will not tolerate: personal attacks, obscene, abusive, slanderous (including lines and letters), business promotion, impersonation, synchronization, proselytizing and shouting. Do not add URLs to websites.
We did not edit the comments. They are approved or deleted. We reserve the right to edit the comment quoted or quoted in an article. In this case, we can fix the spelling and punctuation.
We welcome strong feedback and criticism of our work, but we do not wish to confuse comments with discussions of our policies, and we will moderate accordingly.
We appreciate it when readers and people quoted in articles or blog posts point out errors of truth or significance and will investigate all claims. But these recommendations should be sent via email. To avoid distracting other readers, we will not post comments suggesting an amendment. Instead, edits will be made to a blog post or an article.
