The dog’s owner, Cemal Senturk, was hospitalized on January 14 in Trabzon, a town on the Black Sea coast in northern Turkey.
He had a brain hemorrhage and needed urgent medical attention.
Running behind the ambulance
When Senturk was picked up by ambulance, his dog, named Boncuk, chased the ambulance to hospital, a British newspaper reports. The Guardian.
Senturk’s daughter had picked up the dog there and brought it home, but Boncuk escaped and ran to the hospital in search of its owner.
‘She didn’t hurt anyone’
The dog then sat there for days, local media report. According to a hospital security guard, Boncuk came up every day at 9 a.m. and waited outside the hospital entrance until it was dark.
She did not enter, but was very alert, said the security guard. “Every time the door opened, she poked her head to see if her owner was already coming out.
According to the security guard, the whole hospital loved the dog. “She didn’t harm anyone and waited very obediently.”
Reunification
Last Wednesday, Boncuk’s wait was rewarded: his owner was released from the hospital and taken in a wheelchair. “I missed her a lot,” Senturk said at the meeting.
