Long traffic jams expected abroad this weekend

Children from the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel and North Holland, almost all of Flevoland, Hattem in Gelderland and Eemnes in Utrecht are in class today for the last time this school year. Previously, the central and southern regions were already on vacation.

The ANWB expects morning and evening rush hours in the Netherlands to be less busy in the coming weeks, but those going abroad this weekend should take into account the long traffic jams. It will be busy on routes in France, Germany, Austria and northern Italy, among others.

And Schiphol also takes into account a busy weekend: the airport is expecting around 215,000 departing travelers. They are advised to reserve a time slot for the security check. According to a spokesperson, school holidays have not posed any problems in recent weekends: 95% of travelers were able to pass through security in fifteen minutes.
