Jort doesn’t understand the conflict he caused in the episode at all. “I get a lot of messages that I treated it brutally, but when I think back to the interview, I really don’t see it.” He seems to have messed up with the US Ambassador to the Netherlands. “He left immediately after the show. He was really pissed off.”
“You make such a drama out of it. It happens every four years,” Pete said on the Aware show regarding the unrest in Washington DC. Jort disagrees. “A riot on the Capitol every four years? No.” The Ambassador is so outraged by this comment that he is unable to deliver anything for five seconds. “I think your comment is very rude,” Pete said after reiterating his point.
The presenter always tries to make amends, but the damage is already done. “I don’t want a gift. The gift I would really appreciate is honesty and decent treatment. I think it’s rude and I’m offended.”
