Jill Baijings, former SC Heerenveen player, transferred to Bayern Munich: “I’m incredibly happy with this step”

Orange Lioness Jill Baijings completed a spectacular transfer just before leaving for Australia and New Zealand. The midfield star moves from Bundesliga number five Bayer Leverkusen to German national champions FC Bayern Munich.

Baijings, who previously played for Heerenveen and SGS Essen, is the third major acquisition for the Bavarian superpower, who also want to strike in the Champions League next season. Previously, Bayern Munich had already captured Danish striker Pernille Harder and Swedish defender Magdalena Eriksson. The duo come from Chelsea.

The 22-year-old “number 10” is delighted with her new club. “It was a huge surprise when my agent Angela Verdoes told me that Bayern Munich were interested and turned out to have followed me for a whole season. It’s a dream transfer, in a week I was also said that I could go to the World Cup. I’m incredibly happy with this step, “said the left leg.

Before Baijings signed the three-year contract, she sought advice left and right on her new club. “I spoke with Lineth Beerensteyn and Jacintha Weimar, but also with national coach Andries Jonker. All three worked at Bayern. I wanted to hear their opinion and it was very positive.

Baijings has seven international matches under his belt. She made her debut on October 22, 2021 as a substitute for the Dutch national team in the 8-0 win over Cyprus.
