After Netflix released the documentary series “Tiger King”, the US House of Representatives passed a bill banning the possession of large cats such as lions and tigers.
Room 272-114 voted in favor of the move, making it illegal to allow exhibitors to touch cubs late Thursday.
The bill appears in the documentary and is backed by Carol Baskin, the show’s star Joe Exodic and her husband Howard.
On the same day that the bill was passed, a volunteer was injured when he was attacked by a tiger during a rescue operation in Baskin’s Big Gate.
Baskin told The Hill that the volunteer saw a door leading to the Tiger “clip closed”, which signaled the rescue “Do not open a gate without the coordinator coming to the rescue”.
The volunteer said he “didn’t think so when he got to clip it” and that the tiger “grabbed his hand and tore it over his shoulder”.
“Despite our strict safety protocols and excellent record of safety, the fact that such an injury can occur confirms the inherent risk of dealing with these animals, and why do we need a big cat public safety law to eliminate keeping them unrestricted in backyards?
After the news came Department of Justice in November Businesses in Greater Winewood Exotic Zoo and Tiger King LLC have been accused of violating the Dangerous Creatures Act and Animal Welfare Act.
Overseas used to have a zoo, and it is one of the main animal attractions featured in “Tiger King”, where tourists can watch tigers and lions and play with the big kittens.
Jeffrey and Lauren Lowe, now owners of the zoo, have accepted ownership of the business after Exodic was sentenced to 22 years in prison after being accused of trying to hire a man to kill Baskin.
This law is next to the Senate. In the House vote, there were two parties in the column, although all Democrats and 48 Republicans voted in favor.

“Big cats are wild animals and do not belong in private homes, backyards or roadside zoos,” Quickley said in a statement. “Often, law enforcement and first responders are at risk from these animals and … we owe it to them to control the additional risks they face on the job.”
The law has also received praise from the American Human Society, with group chairwoman Kitty Black saying the law will “end this cycle of suffering, abuse and danger once and for all.”
Black said the group estimates there are hundreds of tigers in the United States, which have been “kept as pets and barriers to money by roadside zoos, fake sanctuaries and pet-pet activities.”
