Haas chooses a second pilot in Abu Dhabi

Haas will announce before the last grand prix of this season who will drive alongside Kevin Magnussen in 2023. Team boss Günther Steiner announced this in a conversation with Automotive, motorcycle and sports.

Haas is still the only team that has yet to sign both drivers for 2023. Mick Schumacher will still represent the team this year, but due to mixed performances the German’s position is under heavy pressure. Steiner isn’t giving up much except that a choice has been made for Abu Dhabi to take the seat alongside Kevin Magnussen.

Haast doubts Schumacher because of his many mistakes. “Schumacher lost thirty to forty points,” Steiner said. Schumacher also had bad luck during the United States Grand Prix, he damaged his car due to the crashes of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. According to the team boss, double points could have been scored. “It would have been possible to score with two drivers. It would have been fantastic for us.”

Schumacher remains calm

Despite the enormous pressure, Mick Schumacher himself remains calm in the face of uncertainty. “I have to keep doing my job. It’s not difficult for me to always be asked about it, it’s part of my job. I have to show it on the track, it’s the only thing I can control.”
