Grosjean shows off special helmet design in first IndyCar test

Romain Grosjean is now leading his first official test in the IndyCar Series. In addition, he wears a special helmet: the helmet his children designed for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last season.

The Frenchman must have missed the last part of the Formula 1 year because of his terrible crash in Bahrain two weeks earlier. Grosjean hit the security barrier of the Bahrain International Circuit at high speed, after which his car snapped in two and caught fire. The 34-year-old driver disappeared in a conflagration, but managed to escape on his own after 28 seconds. He suffered severe burns to his hands, but luckily did relatively well.

However, his Formula 1 career seemed to come to a dramatic end. Grosjean has since left the sport and made the crossing to the United States. Here it will make its IndyCar Series debut this year. His royal class career also ended well. Grosjean is cleared to drive a test for Mercedes Championship training.

Grosjean is now conducting his first official IndyCar test. He says he’s looking forward to it via social media and proudly shows off his helmet design. The experienced rider drives a special copy, drawn by his children and wife. Grosjean would initially wear it at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but as said before, he had to pass it. The photo also clearly shows that his hands are still recovering.
