The Greek track, number 31 in the world, ranks 28th at Wimbledon and therefore avoids the best players. In the third round, he could meet Daniil Medvedev. The first seed Carlos Alcaraz begins his third appearance in the English grand slam tournament against Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. Defending champion Novak Djokovic, number 2 on the calendar, will face Argentinian Pedro Cachin.

Poland’s Iga Swiatek, the first female seed, will face Zhu Lin. The Chinese is number 33 in the WTA rankings. Defending champion Jelena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, seeded third in London, will start against Shelby Rogers of the United States. Number 2 on the seed list, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, will start against Panna Udvardy of Hungary.
