Google Assistant in Android Auto repeats your WhatsApp messages correctly

A lot Android Autousers have been bothered by a Google Assistant since last year which reads WhatsApp messages in poor Dutch. This issue has finally been fixed with an update.

Reading incoming texts in the car is a boon if you need to keep your eyes on the road. This is one of the advantages of the Google Assistant in Android Auto. Unfortunately, Google’s smart companion has since august problems with Dutch pronunciation last year. The assistant tries to read the messages with an English accent and it looks like a strong example of poor Dutch.

Google arrived at the beginning of this year with a solution but this was insufficient in our opinion. It was necessary to adapt the language of the Android phone to the language of the assistant. Therefore, it is no longer possible to use the multilingual assistant. Fortunately, this detour is no longer necessary as Android Auto version 6.1.6105 fixes the entire problem, according to Androidworld reader Mark. We also tried it in the editorial office and it’s okay, Google Assistant repeats WhatsApp messages in correct Dutch.
