George Bennett shows off his personalized champion jersey

Jumbo-Visma would have liked New Zealand road champion George Bennett to wear a special champion’s jersey this year, but the national association has put an end to the design the team had in mind. The rider therefore left in a modified jersey for Paris-Nice.
Jumbo-Visma had originally designed a jersey for Bennett, which was reminiscent of the New Zealand rugby team’s outfit. “It was a really nice outfit, an ode to New Zealand, with a nod to the All Blacks and a clear connection to Jumbo-Visma,” Team leader Plugge wrote of the design. But the News Zealand association disagreed.
Bennett explained the reason in a podcast. “They said: we are afraid that the jersey will be confused with that of the national team. Why? Should the national team start at the Giro d’Italia? The championship jersey we have now is okay, but not that striking and cool, ”said the New Zealander.
