Gary Underwood reveals he ‘burst into tears’ when he embarks on his American Idol journey: ‘I was scared’
He rose to fame after winning the American Idol in 2005.
Now Gary Underwood is reflecting on the beginning of his journey to superstardom.
The 37-year-old wrote a story about his experiences Guide Posts Magazine, Where he expressed the tension he experienced acting in front of the judges.

Recalling the moment he decided to audition for the show, he told The Guide Posts: ‘In the summer before my senior year, I was home one day, watching TV, watching the news section about people auditioning for the American Idol show, and checking it out online.
The most intimate auditions took place in St. Louis. “How far is St. Louis?” I asked my mom. “Six or seven hours in the car,” she said. Far, far away I thought. Beyond the question. “Why do you need to know?” Mom asked.
“” They have American Idol auditions there. “‘I’ll take you.’ Like that. ‘
Gary said he expected the process to be easy, but was ‘scared’ of performing in front of the jury.

He added: ‘It is easy to say that the rest is history, that it should be. But at the time it didn’t feel that way. Going through an audition in St. Louis and getting a “gold ticket” to Hollywood is every competitor’s dream, I was scared.
‘Every time I had to sing in front of the judges, I would get nervous like I did in the first place in church. I will say a prayer and leave it in the hands of God. ‘
Gary’s parents suddenly attacked her when she was taken to the airport.
‘At once it was too much. I myself go to Los Angeles and compete with all these other talented people. I burst into tears. ‘

‘My father returned to me in the back seat. “Gary,” we could go home right now and we would never have to talk about this again. I took a deep breath. “No,” I said at last. “I’m going.”‘
Gary hit a ticket to Hollywood after winning the judges at his audition for the Bonnie Wright song I Can’t Make You Love Me.
He then knocked out runner-up Bo Pie and was crowned the winner of Season Four of American Idol.
Later that year he released his debut album Some Hearts, which included the hit tracks Before He Seeds and Inside Your Heaven.
Gary is married to NHL player Mike Fisher, and they have two sons, Isaiah, five, and Jacob, one.
