George RR Martin doesn’t like some fans eagerly awaiting his new book.
The sixth book in the franchise is expected since 2011, The Winds of Winter. The writer said if his book wasn’t ready by summer 2020 (when Wondercon was due to take place in New Zealand) fans would have “hereby my written consent” that they could lock him in a “little house on the white island, until I’m done”.
A bunch of acorns
But the writer did not succeed. And in a new blog, he didn’t like people wanting to keep him there.
“I’m not going to make predictions about when I’ll be ready. Every time I do, the idiots on the internet see it as a ‘promise’ and then eagerly wait until I miss that deadline so they can crucify myself. I can. Just say I have hope. “
Last year Martin wrote several hundred pages of his new book, and he hopes to continue this year.
