ZUNDERT – Under the watchful eye of dozens of fans, NAC has kicked off the new 2023/2024 season.
The training complex was quiet Monday morning in Zundert. A few dozen supporters saw the NAC enter the pitch just after ten o’clock. Without Captain Martina and Matthew Garbett. The Curacao and New Zealand internationals have an extra week off due to the matches they play with their national teams. Javier Vet stayed inside on day one and will join on Tuesday.
The NAC are missing a handful of injured players. Not only Elias Már Ómarsson and Casper Staring, but also Victor Wernersson and Aimé Omgba. The last two were untraceable. Unlike the former, who simply followed the performance of their teammates along the field. Ómasson will have surgery later this week.
New purchases Tein Troost, Boy Kemper and Dominek Jasonek were on the field. Completed with under-21 players Corijn Kokkeel, Omar Mekkaoui, Kaj van der Veldt, Stef de Wijs, Lars Mol and Jaivy Laurens.
On Saturday, the NAC will play the first exhibition game of the season. Traditionally, it’s Zundert against Zundert selection.
