Barcelona defender Sergiño Dest will be reinforced in the United States national football team. Yunus Musah, the 18-year-old midfielder from Valencia, has chosen to play for the USA team in the future, the USA football association has announced. Musah was born in the United States to a Ghanaian mother. He grew up in Italy and also lived for a long time in England where he went through many youth selections.
The talent coveted by all these countries said he had let his heart speak. “I think it makes sense to speak on behalf of the country where you were born. My heart tells me this is the best choice,” Musah said. “This is an exciting project that I want to work on. I can’t wait to get started.”
Musah has already played two friendlies with the United States against Wales and Panama in November. The next international game will be against Honduras on June 3.
The American team has many young talents, including Giovanni Reyna (Borussia Dortmund), Sergiño Dest (FC Barcelona), Weston McKennie (Juventus) and Christian Pulisic (Chelsea). Former Ajax player Dest, born in Almere, has decided to play for his father’s country instead of Orange.
