Football star Victoria Pelova has won her first trophy with Arsenal. The Orange international’s side won the League Cup by beating Chelsea 3-1 in the sold-out final at Selhurst Park in London. This position had already been reached at half-time.
Pelova, who swapped Ajax for Arsenal in early January, entered the pitch after almost an hour of play. More than half an hour later she was able to celebrate with her new teammates. Arsenal have won the League Cup for the sixth time, making them the most successful club in the English Cup competition.
Injured Vivianne Miedema also took part in the lap of honor on the pitch afterwards. The Arsenal and Orange top scorer is recovering from a serious knee injury but came out to cheer on her teammates in the cup final.
On Instagram, she first shared an image that Arsenal had made with photos of all the players who helped win the League Cup, including Miedema. She then posted a photo of her left leg on the treatment table. “Priorities,” added Miedema. The forward is likely to miss next summer’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
In the English women’s league, the Super League, Arsenal are fourth behind Manchester United, Manchester City and defending champions Chelsea.
