The American rock band suddenly enters the Pyramid Stage, when the unknown name The Churnups is programmed. During the hour-long performance, Dave had a message for the audience. “I already know we’ll be back next summer for a ‘damn’ tour, so you can see us at that ‘damn’ show.”
It was previously reported that Pinkpop would have liked to schedule the group on Saturdays, but there was still too much uncertainty from the group. The Foo Fighters lost drummer Taylor Hawkins just over a year ago and had to look for a new drummer.
Last month, the band announced that Josh Freese had become the new drummer at shows. Belgian Rock Werchter’s Herman Schueremans also hinted at the arrival of Dave Grohl and his men during an interview with StuBru on Friday. “The Foo Fighters couldn’t replace Stromae this year. But sometimes you have to leave things for a year for them to get even better.”
The band is mainly touring the US this year, but had two exclusive European shows with performances at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park (Germany). At the beginning of June, the new album But Here We Are was released. The album is dedicated to the late Hawkins and Grohl’s mother, Virginia, who died five months later.
