The United States reaffirmed its dominant position in women’s football in the latest edition of the FIFA / Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking. Not only did they play more (seven games) than any other team since the previous edition, they were also unbeaten, reaching their last score in 2013.
But if the team at the top of the standings has not changed, the podium has been given a facelift. France (fourth) lost their home ground to the United States in a friendly on April 13, dropping to fourth. The Netherlands (third), who beat Australia (5-0) on the same day, rose to the podium with a record (2,038.61 points).
These teams were not the only drivers in the first matches. For its part, Brazil won one place (seventh), while Australia lost twice (ninth).
After beating Ukraine (31) and qualifying for the next European Women’s Championship, Northern Ireland (48) crossed the 1,500 point mark for the first time in their history. Nicaragua (118th) and Belarus (54th) obtained the next two best points (18.15 and 15.64 respectively).
The next FIFA / Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be released on June 25.
